ORCE understands that local involvement and ownership is necessary for conflict resolution, reconciliation, and lasting peace. ORCE emphasizes the importance of local leadership and of empowering marginalized groups and community members to create open discussions, develop the mutual respect, heal divisions, and build community resilience necessary for social cohesion.
ORCE’s strategic initiatives in this area include:
Peace and Reconciliation Discussions. Using a variety of media and platforms to facilitate open, constructive conversations that engage communities in building awareness, understanding differences, and finding common ground.
Sports and Cultural Exchange for Youth and Women. Organizing sports and cultural exchange programs specifically designed to engage diverse groups of children, youth, and women. Participation in shared activities can help build mutual respect and understanding, and empower marginalized groups with a platform for expression.
Conflict Resolution and Mediation Training. Training local leaders in skills to facilitate dialogues, de-escalate and resolve conflicts, and strengthen community resilience can empower communities to better manage challenges and maintain peace.
