Dr. Yohannes Fisseha Gebrekidan is a mental health and psychosocial support specialist with more than two decades of experience in higher education such as Mekelle University, in the humanitarian response, counseling, and training. He currently serves as the founder and executing management member at ORCE.
Yohannes holds a PhD in Applied Developmental Psychology and has participated and led numerous training and clinical service programs focused on trauma healing and community resilience. As a trainer, consultant, and practicing counselor, he has equipped countless professionals and community workers across Ethiopia with culturally grounded tools to respond to crisis and recovery needs.
Dr. Yohannes has played a leading role in applying culturally sensitive counseling models, working in supervising MHPSS manuals translated and adopted by the ICL unit, and delivering capacity -building programs for frontline workers, educators, and service providers. He is also a driving force behind ORCE’s innovative media programs, safe- space family counseling initiatives. aimed at empowering families, youths and women through resilience-focused approaches.
